  • Turkey – Istanbul Runway Closure

Major construction will close one of three runways at Istanbul Ataturk Airport May 13-28. The two remaining airstrips, which are parallel and close to each other, cannot facilitate simultaneous take-offs and/or landings; air traffic management will therefore increase the time between take-offs and landings from 3.5 to five minutes. This could lead to increasing delays over the course of a day. Travel authorities warn that the operation could cause up to 200 flight cancellations per day.
