A week of protest events will conclude with a large-scale rally in central Barcelona at 1700 Nov. 11. Organizers hope that more than 1 million people from around the region will attend the event. Visitors are advised to avoid the area and expect severe traffic delays.
Air pollution levels have crossed into the severe plus, or emergency category, hitting 30 times the World Health Organizations safe level. Schools are closed and the city has instituted limits on personal vehicles and trucks. People are urged to use carpooling and public transport, stay indoors, and to not smoke.
