Philippines – Security Amid Typhoon Relief

Security is tight across Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Samar provinces, which were severely impacted by Typhoon Haiyan. An indefinite state of calamity remains in effect in the Philippines, as rescue and recovery efforts in central parts of the country are likely to continue for weeks or months. The powerful storm caused severe infrastructure damage in some areas, and hundreds of thousands of people are homeless.
