NE United States – Winter Storm

An expansive storm system is expected to bring snow, sleet, and freezing rain to a broad area from Missouri to the Canadian Maritimes through December 15. The storm will likely cause transport disruptions and some power outages across its path, but the extent of potential problems remains unclear due to uncertainty about its track. Snow, sleet, and rain began in the Midwest and spread into the Ohio Valley region on Dec. 13; the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions of the US, as well as much of eastern Ontario and southern Quebec will be affected Dec. 14 and into Dec. 15. Snowfall is forecast to persist in New England and Atlantic Canada through Dec. 15. Low cloud ceilings, snow, and rain will probably produce delays at the following airports: Reagan National, Dulles, BWI, Philadelphia, Newark, LaGuardia, JFK, Boston, Chicago (O’Hare and Midway), Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and may also affect St. Louis, Kansas city, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Albany, Manchester, as well as smaller airports throughout the area. Difficult driving conditions can be expected on many major interstate corridors, including I-39, I-55, I-57, I-64, I-65, I-66, I-69, I-70, I-71, I-72, I-74, I-75, I-76, I-77, I-79, I-80, I-81, I-84, I-87, I-88, I-90, I-91, I-93, I-94, and I-95.
