U.S. – Southern California Storm
A powerful Pacific storm system is forecast to bring high winds, torrential rain, hail, and heavy snow to much of Southern California through March 2. The system will affect coastal areas from San Diego to Monterey, as well as the Antelope Valley, Inland Empire, and the Sierra Nevada range. The National Weather Service has issued winter storm watches and warnings and winter weather advisories for the mountains of Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties in Southern California, as well as the entire Sierra Nevada. Rainfall of 1-3 inches is expected in the Los Angeles metropolitan area; up to 6 inches of rain is possible in the foothills of various mountain ranges. Flash flood watches are in effect for all or portions of Monterey, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, and San Diego counties. Although weather-related disruptions are unusual at Southern California airports, thunderstorms, strong crosswinds, and poor visibility could potentially cause traffic management issues and flight delays at Los Angeles-area airports and San Diego International Airport.
