If I have to change my airline ticket due to a family emergency will the airline waive change fees?

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no. Like so many issues, policies vary by airline. The most common answer is that the carrier will waive the change fee, but not any fare difference, for an emergency involving an immediate family member. To request this favor, the airline must be called directly, either by the traveler or your Travel-On agent.
