Chile – Volcano Eruption

A third eruption at the Calbuco Volcano in southern Chile has prompted the National Office of Emergency of the Interior Ministry to issue a red alert for the communes of Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas in the Los Lagos Region. The eruption has caused flight cancellations at Bariloche and San Martin de los Andes airports in Argentina April 30. More disruptions are possible at these airports and others, including Puerto Montt, depending on the altitude of the ash cloud and where it spreads.
