The Real ID Act Extension for Non-Compliant States

The Department of Homeland Security has granted a 1-year extension for the four states and one territory issuing driver’s licences that are not compliant with the Real ID Act. When the Act goes into place in January 2016, travelers with licenses issued in New York, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Louisiana, and American Samoa will be able to board a commercial plane or cruise ship using a standard driver’s license.
