India – Security for Diwali Celebrations
Hindus across India will observe the Diwali festival November 10-12. Many banks, businesses, and government offices in India will close for the holiday on Nov. 11. Expect heightened security around prominent venues, transport hubs, and crowded public places. Militants regularly issue threats surrounding holiday periods in India, and could attempt bombings at crowded locations. Increased petty theft is common during festivals. Diwali is a peak travel period in India. Expect congestion around transport terminals and heavy traffic on main highways before Diwali and at the end of the long weekend.
