Air France – Pending Stikes

Several French unions continue to stage a campaign of nationwide strikes and demonstrations against pending labor reforms. The protest movement has affected nearly every sector of the French economy; disruptions have been especially pronounced in the transport and energy industries. Workers regularly take to the streets in cities across France to stage mass demonstrations during labor strikes. These rallies prompt road closures and disrupt ground transportation. Large protests are expected – especially in central Paris – during a nationwide day of action planned for June 14.

Aviation
The five air traffic control unions have cancelled the strike planned for this weekend. Crippling delays are unlikely, though moderate delays are possible due to strikes of related sectors. Staff at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport have threatened to strike June 7, potentially disrupting airport operations, including passenger check-in and security processing, baggage handling, and ground operations. One large pilot union has called on members to strike for at least two days from June 11. The walkout has the potential to disrupt flight operations across the Air France network. The largest pilots’ union has also threatened a six-day strike. No specific dates announced yet.

Rail
All four labor unions representing railway workers are participating in indefinite, rolling strikes nationwide. The walkout will likely continue to disrupt operations across the SNCF network, though service availability will vary by region. Eurostar routes are not often affected by French labor actions, though disruptions are possible.

Public Transit
Strikes by public transit works are likely to cause disruptions on lines to/from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. A second union is calling for an indefinite strike commending Jun 10, which will likely have a wider impact.
