Is a hotel reservation like an airline ticket, where if I don’t show up for the first flight or night the remainder of the reservation is cancelled?

Yes indeed! If you have a reservation for multiple nights and you are a “no show” on the first night the hotel will cancel the remainder of your stay. If you find that you do not need the first night please contact your Travel-On agent or the hotel directly to change the reservation. If your reservation had terms and conditions that will no longer be met by the new dates, such as minimum number of nights or arriving on a particular day of the week, the change could impact your rate. If the reservation was non-refundable, non-changeable your only option may be to see if the hotel will leave the reservation intact for the original dates, but note that you will forfeit the first night and arrive on the second night. Some hotels are able to do so and some are not.
