If I have an unused or partially unused ticket that is worth less than the airline’s change fee what happens to it?

Most domestic tickets – except those that are fully refundable/changeable – incur a $200 airline fee to change or exchange them. The cost to change an international ticket may be significantly higher. When the value of the ticket is not enough to cover the cost of the change fee the ticket is deemed to have no exchange value. The airline simply keeps the money.
