United States – State of Emergency in Chicago, Ill. amid Severe Flooding

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has declared a state of emergency as severe flooding continues to cause significant disruptions in Chicago. Local traffic reports indicate that a number of roads have closed due to flooding. High water levels have prompted isolated lane closures on I-55, I-90, I-94, and I-290. Public transit service is experiencing delays, especially to bus routes due to impassable roads. Stranded vehicles have caused additional traffic congestion on open portions of highways. Additional rain is forecast, which may further worsen road conditions. Residual transportation disruptions are likely even after weather improves.
