Russia – Opposition Groups to March and Rally in Moscow May 5

The Opposition Expert Council plans to stage a march from Kaluzhskaya Square to Bolotnaya Square in central Moscow May 5 to demand political reforms and the release of political prisoners as part of a “March of Millions” campaign against Russian President Vladimir Putin. The march is scheduled to occur from 1700 to 1800, with the rally from 1800 to 2000. Expect a heightened security presence along the march route and near the rally site. Additionally, security forces will most likely conduct random bag searches and use metal detectors to screen people and their belongings; more frequent identification checks are also likely.
