Canada and United States – Tropical Storm Andrea

Tropical Storm Andrea is forecast to continue its northeastward movement along the Atlantic coastline through June 8, possibly weakening to a depression before reaching the Northeast US. Heavy rainfall has the potential to cause flash flooding in southeastern Georgia, and southeastern South Carolina, eastern North Carolina and southeastern Virginia through June 7. Current forecasts suggest that the Chesapeake Bay region, the Mid-Atlantic, New England, and the Canadian Maritimes may also receive heavy rainfall. Strong winds are unlikely to cause widespread structural damage, but could down trees and power lines, possibly causing power outages. Severe weather conditions have not yet lead to widespread flight delays and cancellations. However, flight disruptions may increase as the storm passes. If the storm maintains its strength June 8, flight delays and cancellations are possible at major airports along the I-95 corridor between Washington, DC and Boston, Mass. Passenger and freight rail service providers will probably not suspend service, but storms could knock out power at train stations or damage signal equipment, potentially causing significant delays. Bridge closures are possible in areas in the direct path of the storm, and flooding may make some secondary roads impassable.
