Malaysia – Major Rally in Kuala Lumpur
Opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat will hold its latest anti-electoral fraud ‘Black 505’ rally in central Kuala Lumpur around noon on June 22. The event will likely see tens of thousands of participants. Police will likely seal off roads around Padang Merbok and the nearby historic Dataran Merdeka, where opposition supporters may try to rally in case they are denied access to the original venue. Authorities may also halt or divert public transportation and close down a number of stations on its commuter train networks in Kuala Lumpur prior to the rally. Riot police could use tear gas, water cannons, and other crowd control measures to disperse demonstrators. Mass arrests and clashes between protesters and police are possible.
