Brazil – Major Protests Nationwide with Independence Day Observance
Anti-government protests and street marches are scheduled around the country to coincide with Independence Day celebrations on Sept. 7. Police will augment their presence along highways, at airports, and at other crowded sites. Organizers intend most protests to be peaceful, but anarchists might participate in some cities.. Most demonstrations will take place in large squares or along major avenues of the city. Protests are possible outside of stadiums and government buildings. Breakaway groups, including members of the anarchist Black Bloc group have targeted ‘symbols of capitalism’ in the past, including major bank branches and retail outlets.
