Belgium – Personnel of Brussels Airlines Threaten to Strike
Unions representing employees of Brussels Airlines on Aug. 31 filed an official strike notice after negotiations with management over reducing the flight load of cabin personnel failed. Under Belgian law, unions must file a strike notice seven business days prior to the action in order to give airlines time to prepare. Hence, although union representatives have not announced a specific date for the labor action to start, it could not legally begin before Sept. 10. Significant delays and cancellations are likely on all Brussels Airlines flights unless renewed talks succeed in averting the strike.
