Philippines, Taiwan, and China – Super Typhoon Usagi

Super Typhoon Usagi continues to track west-northwestward in the Philippine Sea. Though Usagi is not projected to make landfall in the Philippines, the storm is will cause heavy rainfall and coastal flooding in Luzon through Sep 22. Usagi is forecast to begin weakening before passing the southern tip of Taiwan as it enters the South China Sea. Usagi is then predicted to turn west and track west-northwestward, passing close to Hong Kong before making landfall in eastern Guangdong Province, China early Sept. 23. The storm will likely bring strong winds, heavy rain, and coastal storm surge causing flooding, power outages, and business and travel disruptions.
