Asia – Eid al-Adha Observances
Muslims will celebrate Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) Oct. 14-16. The festival is a national holiday in predominantly Muslim countries and some with sizable Muslim minorities, such as the Philippines. Government offices and some businesses may close for 2-4 days; foreign embassies may also close for the holiday. The holiday dates vary slightly by country; many countries will begin the holiday at sunset Oct. 14 and celebrate through sunset Oct. 15, but some countries will celebrate from sunset Oct. 15 to sunset Oct. 16, depending on when the new moon was sighted.
