Colombia – Avianca Pilot Union Work Slowdown Affecting Flights Nationwide

The Avianca pilots’ union continues to enforce a work slowdown that began Sept. 13 to protest poor working conditions and demand higher salaries. The slowdown has forced the airline to cancel 3.5 percent of its weekly scheduled flights – a total of 190 flights. These measures are allowing most flights to operate on schedule currently. Pilots of TACA flights, which are operated by Avianca, are not participating in the slowdown. The majority of delays are likely at Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport. However, other airports in Colombia are experiencing some affects.
