East and Southeast Asia – Lunar New Year
Hundreds of millions of people are expected to travel throughout East and Southeast Asia during the Lunar New Year holiday season. Lunar New Year falls on Jan. 28, but observance varies by location between Jan 27-Feb 2. Lunar New Year is one of the most important annual events in China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Singapore. The holiday is also widely observed in North and South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and, to a lesser extent, Laos, Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines. Many businesses in the region will close for the holiday.
