Illiniois, Indiana – Lake Michigan Lakeshore Advisories

The National Weather Service has issued a lakeshore flood advisory for shoreline areas along Lake Michigan from Waukegan, Illinois to Benton Harbor, Michigan. The advisory is in effect from 0800 CDT Oct. 31 to 0500 CDT Nov. 1. Powerful northerly winds will produce large waves that will likely wash over piers and breakwaters and cause beach erosion and minor flooding, especially during the afternoon and evening of Oct. 31. Strong wind, rain, and possible snow will probably cause flight disruptions at Chicago’s O’Hare and Midway airports. Airlines have already pre-cancelled more than 75 departing flights at O’Hare.
