Is there a way to get TSA Pre-Check without having Global Entry or going through an airline?
Yes! Starting this month US citizens will be permitted to apply directly to TSA Pre-Check instead of being invited to join through an airline frequent flyer membership or Global Entry. The cost is $85 for 5 years and the first enrollment centers will be at Dulles and Indianapolis. The qualifications – and disqualifications – remain the same. If approved, in 2-3 weeks you will receive a letter in the mail containing a “known traveler” number. Be sure to enter that number in your Travel-On profile as well as in all of your frequent flyer profiles. As always, acceptance into TSA Pre-Check does not mean that you will be selected to receive the expedited screening on every trip.
