Italy – General Strike Dec 12th

Leaders of several major Italian labor organizations have called for an eight-hour general strike across Italy on Dec. 12. Aviation, rail, and maritime transportation workers are expected to participate. Transportation workers will strike at various times on Dec. 12, causing rolling delays and disruptions during the following time frames:

• Air traffic controllers: 1300-1700
• Alitalia workers: 1200-1600
• Aviation (all others): 1000-1800
• Rail: 0900-1700

Work stoppages will almost certainly cause commercial, transit, and public service disruptions; however, they are unlikely to have a crippling effect in any sector because Italian law requires that a minimum level of service be maintained during weekday strikes.
