Marriott Tightens Cancellation Policy
Following the industry trend, Marriott announced that effective with reservations made after June 15th, cancellations now require a minimum of 48 hours notice in order to avoid a 1-night cancellation fee. Previously most hotels allowed a 24-hour cancellation deadline. This change applies to all Marriott family brands (including the former Starwood brands) located in the U.S., Canada, Caribbean, and Latin America, with the exception of Design Hotels. A handful of Marriott hotels already had a 48-hour or 72-hour cancellation policy in place. Some hotels with a 72-hour cancellation policy will continue that practice, and some that had previously maintained a 48-hour policy have switched to a 72-hour cancellation policy. Through the end of 2017, Travel-On’s “Travel Leaders” rates continue to have only a 24-hour cancellation limit (unless otherwise noted).
