South Carolina – Flooding
The ongoing flooding has caused major damage to property and infrastructure in both South Carolina and southeastern North Carolina. Officials plan to issue localized mandatory and voluntary evacuations as floodwaters flow from the Midlands to the Lowcountry and coastal areas of South Carolina. 13 dams have failed and 62 are being monitored for possible breaches. Flood warnings and advisories remain in effect in much of the Lowcountry and coastal areas of South Carolina and southeastern North Carolina. Flooding continues to cause major transport disruptions, with sections of many roads to wash away and hundreds of roads and bridges closed. Power is being restored, but additional outages are possible as floodwaters inundate the Lowcountry and coastal areas. Some areas remain without safe tap water.
