Turkey – Turkish Airlines (TK) Union to Strike Unless Talks Resume
Turkey’s Civil Aviation Workers Union (Hava-Is) has announced that Turkish Airlines employees will launch a strike starting 0300 May 15. The announcement comes after renewed negotiations between union representatives and the carrier’s management failed to achieve a new collective bargaining agreement. Hava-Is has given no indication of how long the labor action might last. Although the advance notice provided by the union may enable Turkish Airlines to mitigate the impact to some degree, the strike will likely cause severe disruptions to the company’s international and domestic operations if not averted.
